Entry #1 Blogs and their value

         Hello everyone Jose SG here👋,

Today I’m talking about one of the pillars of internet culture BLOGS. Blogs as most people know are longform media posts (Similar to diary entries) that have been largely rendered obsolete. In today’s day and age social media posts are mainly short form. There are many social media platforms that have content that is predominantly easy to scroll through and community made. For example, TikTac uses short community made videos to keep users’ attention as they mindlessly scroll through. Instagram and its contemporaries like X (formerly twitter) have short user made posts with words count limits but access to pictures and videos. Blogs can no longer be considered a popular form of internet expression, but they still  have their uses. Blogs have slightly adapted by having distinct purposes and the three most easily identifiable are, Personal, Professional, and Corporate.

(All blogs used at the bottom of the post)

Personal Blogs

Personal blogs are the most similar to modern day social media posts except that they generally have their own specific websites and are very wordy. These types of blogs give the reader a sense of familiarity with the creator as they have personal details  that make you feel like a friend or family member. For example, the blog I read is about the poster giving an update as to why he wasn’t posting as often. Although I haven’t read any of his previous posts, I still felt like I knew the person behind the screen personally. These types of blogs are not my cup of tea but if you like things like Instagram posts you should check these out.

Professional Blogs

Professional blogs from my own interpretation follow the article format which makes them the most confusing to me. On one hand they can be extremely helpful as resources to get information like news, guides, and tutorials. On the other hand, we have articles that exist only to get clicks and keep user retention rates high. The ones that serve to be educational and primarily objective will always get high levels of praise from me as they have helped me all throughout my life. The ones that only look for clicks can be fun and serve as entertainment but things like hit pieces, gossip, and over politicized articles are worthless in my opinion. The main issue I have is I don’t see the purpose to read articles that thinly veil attempts at telling you what to think; if it is meant to be a persuasive piece then why hide it? These Blogs can either be one of the best tools on the internet or a waste of time.

                          Corporate Blogs

Corporate blogs are the ones I’ve used the least as I have no need for them yet. From my short experience with them they are interesting as they have a very specific purpose which is education. The blog I referenced is aimed at new customers for a service and the easiest way to learn how to use it. It’s a very simple type of blog but can be useful if you want to get acquainted with a specific service/organization. These are especially useful if you’re running a business as it serves as a good alternative to Q&A or FAQ pages.

TLDR:

Personal blogs aren’t  popular anymore.

Professional blogs are good but should with be read with some level of scrutiny.

Corporate blogs are useful for specific programs or occupations.

Read them or don’t it’s up to you I’m not the free time police.

Leave any suggestions or disagreements in the comment section

That’s all folks.
